My work evolves around topics like the relationship between fiction and fact, reality and enactment. By conceiving as well as constructing structural and narrative networks based on the idea of the intersection of biographies, I've tried to reflect the cultural codes of the observer.
The history of photography conjointly the theories about its perception and the perception of the captured subject serve as basis for the series of installations and videos I'm working on.
With a glance to social networks I act on the creation of fictions and fictional identities as experimental space to analyze and represent the definition of identity and memory: I'm especially interested in the construction of a biography through communication process, the influence of the environment and the dynamics of the “collective memory” in which we are acting: In fact the concept of memory as net of continuously growing associations.
“The third subject” is what I like to define as result of this work (in progress): actually can be described as the fictive identity growing through the interaction of two other ones.
Expanding my experimental field I started to interact with people I don't know personally, through social and communicative networks in the internet, first using their photographs as basis for a visual work, I ask them to interact with me using the results of this communication as material for the construction of a new narrative and visual structure.
My idea is to investigate the metamorphosis of the perception of the social space, observing and documenting its heterogeneity and how the context in which I'm going to act can influence my/our previous conception and perception of a subject and his self representation.
The work is multidisciplinary; varying between a wide spectrum of media among which are video, installation, photography, writing, drawings and audio. It therefore can be best described as conceptual, with a strong outlook to the visual or tangible. I usually work on several bodies of work concurrently, also creating site specific temporary installations for indoor and outdoor sites. Sometimes I rework a site specific installation into a self contained format that will enable the piece to be shown in a non site specific installation format/ environment.
Starting from presuppositions (found photographs) I try to reflect on the perceptive, associative and not least physical space that is identity. The cognitive processes that constitute and build our being, are active in themselves through a series of biochemical and electrophysiological events between organs resulting in a continuous communication. What I see and define as reality follows the same principles, in the same way that Identity composes itself from the similar dynamics. Through the exchange work between the more tangible to me (namely mine) and the unknowing (namely the found reality) I build fictions trying to visualize the thesis of the interaction between subjectivity, that compose the process of construction of a memory of a individual. The associative probabilities are theoretically limitless, as they are the interaction between manifold subjects. In accordance with these Ideas I try to find a scheme of action that is necessary to understand the dynamic system of the real (perceived) thereby bringing my work to a interactive and interdisciplinarity plan with the possible interlocutors, meeting and being met. Particularly I worked on the Installation with a specific research on these topics for my Master’s thesis.
